Setup Instructions Setting up
OT-PPP on your Macintosh
Install the OT-PPP Software:
Open Transport PPP (OT-PPP) is available for
downloadfrom a number of sites. It is also packaged with MAC OS System 7.6.
Open Transport Configuration:
1. Verify you have Open Transport 1.1.1 or
higher installed on your system.
2. Once Open Transport is installed, follow the Open
Transport Confguration Instructions.
OT-PPP Configuration:
1. Pull down the Apple menu and
choose Control Panels. Open the PPP control panel.
2. Verify that the Registered User option is selected.
3. Fill-in the following settings, Username, Password
& Local Access Number.
4. The Save password box is optional. Check it if you do not want to enter your password
eact time you connect.
5. Click on th Options button.
6. The first tab in the Options screen is for the Redialing option. We suggest leaving
this set at Off.
7. Click on the Connection tab.
8. Most of the settings in the Connection options window are optional. We
suggest checking the box that displays "Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP
applications".
9. Click on the Protocol tab.
10. In the Protocol options window, select the "Allow error
correction and compression in modem" and "Use TCP header
compression boxes".
11. Click OK to save and close.
12. From the PPP menu (on the top left corner of your screen), choose Modem.
13. Choose the proper settings based on the modem and phone line you are using:
Connect via
Modem Brand/Model
Dialing Sound
Tone or Pulse
14. It is usually best to leave the Ignore dial tone box unchecked.
15. Close the Modem window by clicking on the close-box on the top left corner of the
window.
Connecting from the Internet:
1. Pull down the Apple menu and choose Control
Panels. Open the PPP control panel.
2. If the username, password and local access number are entered correctly, click Connect.
The Status window will inform you that your are connected to the Internet. You can now
start using your Internet applications.
3. When you are finished with your Internet applications, go back to PPP
and click on the Disconnect button. This will disconnect your from the
Internet. |
