Microsoft Outlook Express

Sending and retrieving emails using Outlook Express

NOTE: Instructions below assumes that you are currently connected to the internet and have installed Microsoft Outlook Express program onto your computer. Please follow the instructions below to send and retrieve emails using Outlook Express.

Creating an email account profile:

  1. Start the Microsoft Outlook Express program.
  2. Select "Accounts..." from the Tools menu.
  3. First, we'll set up your Calview Netlink email account on your computer. Click "Add" and select "Mail...".
  4. Enter your real name as you wish it to appear along with your email address in messages (ex: Mr. Smith) in the Display name field. Click "Next".
  5. In the "E-mail address" field, enter your Calview Netlink email address. (ex: joe@calview.com). Click "Next".
    NOTE: If hosting your domain, you will require to enter your domain name instead (ex: joe@yourcompany.com).
  6. Select "POP3" from the My incoming mail server is a ___server pop-up menu.
  7. Enter "mail.calview.com" in the Incoming mail (POP3) server field.
    NOTE: If hosting your domain, you will require to enter your domain name instead (ex: mail.yourcompany.com).
  8. Enter "mail.calview.com" in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field.
    NOTE1: If you're a Calview Netlink Dialup user, and have been instructed to use SMTP authentication, please follow extra steps:
    8a.  Place checkmark in "My server requires authentication".
    8b.  Click "Settings" and select "Log on using".
    8c.  Type your userid under Account name field.
    8d.  Type your password under Password field.
    8e.  Place checkmark in "Remember password"
    8f.  Click "OK".

    NOTE2:
    If hosting your domain, you will require to enter your domain name instead (ex: mail.yourcompany.com).
  9. Click "Next".
  10. Select "Log on using: POP account" and enter your Calview Netlink username in the POP account field. For example, user "joe" would enter joe (NOT joe@calview.com)
  11. Enter your Calview Netlink password in the Password field and click "Next".
  12. Type a name for your email account in the Internet mail account name field (ex: My Calview Netlink Email).
  13. Click "Next".
  14. Click "Finish"
  15. Congratulations! You're ready to start using Microsoft Outlook Express mail. Open Microsoft Outlook Express and click send and receive for emails.
