95 and 98 Windows 95/98 Dial-up
Instructions
Please follow the instructions below to connect
using Windows 95/98 operating system:
- Double click on My Computer.
- Double click on Dial-up Networking.
If you DON'T see
"Dial-up Networking" listed, do the following:
- Double click on Control Panel.
- Double click Add/Remove Programs.
- Click the Windows Setup tab.
- Double click the Communications
icon.
- Select Dial-up Networking.
- Click OK (restart computer if prompted).
- Double click on Make New Connection. Create
connection called "Calview Netlink"
- Select a device (this can be selected by
default).
- Click on Next. Enter the
telephone number of your local dialup Point of Presence (POP).
- Click Next.
- Click on Finish.
If you DO see "Dial-up
Networking" listed, do the following:
- Double click on Make New Connection.
Create connection called "Calview Netlink"
- Select a device (this can be selected by
default).
- Click on Next. Enter the
telephone number of your local dialup Point of Presence (POP).
- Click Next.
- Click on Finish.
To setup a Connection Type
- Right click on the Calview Netlink
Connection Icon you created in the steps above.
- Click on Properties.
- Click on the Server Type tab.
- For "Type of Dial-up Server,"
select the line beginning with "PPP:"
- For "Advanced options,"
check only the Enable Software Compression box.
- For "Allowed network protocols,"
check only the box for TCP/IP.
- Click the TCP/IP Settings
button.
- Click the Server Assigned IP addresses
option
- Click the Specify name server addresses
option
- In the Primary DNS, enter: 209.133.32.11
- In the Secondary DNS, enter: 209.133.32.12
- Click OK until you exit the program. Note:
You may received another message box requiring you to reboot your computer for changes to
take effect.
To verify your connections:
- Double click on My Computer.
- Double click on Control Panel.
- Double click on Network.
- You will see a TCP/IP protocol and a Dial-up
Adapter listed. If not, follow the steps below.
To install the TCP/IP protocol and Dial-up
Adapter:
- Double click on My Computer.
- Double click on Control Panel.
- Double click on Network.
- Double click on Adapter
- Scroll down and click on Microsoft (located to
the left panel).
- Double click on Dial-up Adapter (located to the
left panel).
- Click on the Add button once more time.
- Double click on Protocols.
- Scroll down and click on Microsoft (located to
the left panel).
- Double click on TCP/IP (located to the right
panel).
- Click OK. Note: You will be prompted to re-boot
your machine for changes to take effect.
Verifying your connection to Calview:
- After the system has rebooted, connect to Calview
Netlink by Double clicking on My Computer.
- Double click on Dial-up Networking.
- Double click on Calview Netlink Connection
- Enter your username and password for
authentication.
- You are done! You should see the Dial-up
Networking icon to your lower right corner of the task bar, next to the clock.
