Windows 95 and 98

Windows 95/98 Dial-up Instructions

Please follow the instructions below to connect using Windows 95/98 operating system:

  1. Double click on My Computer.
  2. Double click on Dial-up Networking.

If you DON'T see "Dial-up Networking" listed, do the following:

  1. Double click on Control Panel.
  2. Double click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Click the Windows Setup tab.
  4. Double click the Communications icon.
  5. Select Dial-up Networking.
  6. Click OK (restart computer if prompted).
  7. Double click on Make New ConnectionCreate connection called "Calview Netlink"
  8. Select a device (this can be selected by default).
  9. Click on Next. Enter the telephone number of your local dialup Point of Presence (POP).
  10. Click Next.
  11. Click on Finish.

If you DO see "Dial-up Networking" listed, do the following:

  1. Double click on Make New Connection. Create connection called "Calview Netlink"
  2. Select a device (this can be selected by default).
  3. Click on Next. Enter the telephone number of your local dialup Point of Presence (POP).
  4. Click Next.
  5. Click on Finish.

To setup a Connection Type

  1. Right click on the Calview Netlink Connection Icon you created in the steps above.
  2. Click on Properties.
  3. Click on the Server Type tab.
  4. For "Type of Dial-up Server," select the line beginning with "PPP:"
  5. For "Advanced options," check only the Enable Software Compression box.
  6. For "Allowed network protocols," check only the box for TCP/IP.
  7. Click the TCP/IP Settings button.
  8. Click the Server Assigned IP addresses option
  9. Click the Specify name server addresses option
  10. In the Primary DNS, enter: 209.133.32.11
  11. In the Secondary DNS, enter: 209.133.32.12
  12. Click OK until you exit the program. Note: You may received another message box requiring you to reboot your computer for changes to take effect.

To verify your connections:

  1. Double click on My Computer.
  2. Double click on Control Panel.
  3. Double click on Network.
  4. You will see a TCP/IP protocol and a Dial-up Adapter listed. If not, follow the steps below.

To install the TCP/IP protocol and Dial-up Adapter:

  1. Double click on My Computer.
  2. Double click on Control Panel.
  3. Double click on Network.
  4. Double click on Adapter
  5. Scroll down and click on Microsoft (located to the left panel).
  6. Double click on Dial-up Adapter (located to the left panel).
  7. Click on the Add button once more time.
  8. Double click on Protocols.
  9. Scroll down and click on Microsoft (located to the left panel).
  10. Double click on TCP/IP (located to the right panel).
  11. Click OK. Note: You will be prompted to re-boot your machine for changes to take effect.

Verifying your connection to Calview:

  1. After the system has rebooted, connect to Calview Netlink by Double clicking on My Computer.
  2. Double click on Dial-up Networking.
  3. Double click on Calview Netlink Connection
  4. Enter your username and password for authentication.
  5. You are done! You should see the Dial-up Networking icon to your lower right corner of the task bar, next to the clock.
