Workstation/Server RAS Instructions
Dial-up Networking Installation:
To install dial-up networking you'll navigate to
the Dial-up Networking window, add a RAS (Remote Access Server) device and configure this
device for Calview Netlink.
- To navigate to the Dial-up Networking
window:
1. Start Windows NT and go to the Start Button.
2. Click on Programs and go to Accessories.
3. In Accessories list, click on Dial-up Networking.
4. Click OK when prompted if you want to install Dial-up Networking
for Windows NT 4.0.
- To add the RAS Device:
1. Verify that the modem selected is the modem that is installed in your
system. If not, select the modem from the model list.
2. Click OK.
- To configure the RAS device through
Remote Access Setup:
1. Click Configure and select Dial out only
from the list.
2. Click OK.
3. Click Network and verify that there is a check mark in TCP/IP
only.
4. Click OK and Continue.
5. Restart your computer when prompted.
Dial-up Networking Configuration:
- To navigate to the Dial-up Networking
window:
1. Click on the Start Button.
2. Click on Programs and go to Accessories.
3. In Accessories list, click on Dial-up Networking.
4. Click OK when prompted to add a Phone Book Entry.
- To create a Phone Book Entry:
1. On Name Entry: enter Calview Netlink
for the connection name.
2. Click Next.
3. On Server: verify that all three boxes are checked.
4. Click Next.
5. On Phone Number: enter your local access number.
6. Click Next.
7. On Serial Line Protocol: choose Point to Point (PPP)
8. Click Next.
9. On Login Script: click None.
10. Click Next.
11. On IP Address: leave this to all 0's.
12. Click Next.
13. On Name Server Addresses: enter 209.133.32.11
for Primary DNS.
14. Leave the Wins server to all 0's, click Next and Finish.
15. You should now see an Entry called Calview Netlink.
- To configure the Phone Book Entry:
1. Choose the Calview Netlink Phone Book entry, click More,
and click
"Edit entry and Modem Properties."
2. Click the Basic tab, remove the check from "Use another
Port if busy."
3. Click on the Server tab, and verify that TCP/IP is
the only box selected.
4. Click on TCP/IP settings, and select Server Assigned IP
Address.
5. Select Server assigned name server addresses, and click OK.
6. Click on the Script tab and select None.
7. Click on the Security.
8. Select Accept any Authentication including clear text, and click OK.
9. You are done!
- To start the Calview Netlink connection:
1. Go to the Start button and Programs.
2. Select Accessories and then click on Dial-up Networking.
3. Select the Calview Netlink Phone Book entry, and click Dial.
4. Enter your Username and Password.
5. Leave Domain Name a blank entry, and click OK.
6. You are done! connected to the Internet! You can start you Web browser or other
internet programs.
You are now connected to the Internet and you
can start your Web browser or other internet programs. |
